I was born into a life of sensitivity, including but not limited to: hearing what isn’t said, listening through the silence, sensing thoughts of those I knew, feeling emotions not drawn on faces nor bodies. I thought I was special, being prone to this awareness of others around me, even though I knew not my own energies — probably the most important part of becoming self-aware yet the most ignored. I realize now that I’m no more special than the next guy, who also was born into a life of sensitivity. He may have been in tune to different areas of me, such as seeing (I was not gifted that privilege) sights unseen.
