I don’t believe him

Because of you,
I don’t believe him
when he tells me he loves me,
or when he leans in closer to whisper
he’ll never leave me.

Because of you,
I’ve put all my fucking walls up again,
forbidding anyone to let them down,
nor allowing the light to shine in
on my darkening heart.
