Dancing Under the Stars

When you look at me the way you do,
My body begins to sway back and forth —
As if I’m dancing to the sound of the waves
Reverberating throughout the depths of the oceans,
Seeping into the core of my heart.

You meet my dance with a gentle touch to my shoulder,
And my skin starts to melt,
As if you are the radiating sun imprinting its luster onto me,
Giving me the power it holds over light
And letting me shine bright because of you —
As if I am the moon reflecting the light from your almighty essence.

Our dancing progresses as the sky beckons for the moon to take over,
Yielding a blanket of stars once forgotten,
And as they glisten overhead,
Urging us to embrace in our true first kiss as lovers,
You instead mimic their winks with your hazelnut eyes —
Forcing me into submission but willing you to keep dancing with me.

As our dance slows alongside the lulls of Mother Nature’s sweet nothings —
The waves splashing subtly against the harshness of the rocks’ faces —
You dip me low:
The way the sun…
