Don’t Fear the Fall Before Trying to Fly

So often, people limit themselves and fear the fall before even trying to fly. They allow themselves to be caged and defined, even shaped by the confinement of their surroundings. They peer over the edge, already envisioning the nightmare of the fall, should they not succeed in the haphazard flight. They lose focus on the flight itself, allowing fear to envelop them more so than the freedom in flapping their wings, far and wide. Fear suppresses them to the point of suffocation, forcing them to curl up in the corner, completely grounded.

Some people may take a look around and see the beauty beyond their entrapped mind — their version of a cage. They may even branch out every once in a while, hopping closer and closer to the edge, wondering what it would feel like to actually be the bird that gets to see the world for all of its beauty. But then, right before they fully submit to the expansion of their glorious wings, designed specifically for flying, they cringe at the thought of falling. Or of…
