Her Name
The wind whispered her name as it brushed his face gently
Thoughts of her then flooded his mind as chills crept down his spine
There they were, awkwardly giggling on the floor
She fell — he caught her just in time
But he then also fell, rolling over her fragile body
They went to dances, to movies, to parties
She promised him she would always be there
They went to the lake where he proposed
He came home to her, wanting children
She said no and bore heartache instead
She gave herself scars; he wore them on his heart
He could tell she was no longer happy
So he bought her flowers, chocolate, even a puppy
But when he walked in the door, she was not there
Her body was on the floor, but she was not
He searched everywhere but could not find her
As a tear stumbled out of his eye, he looked out at the lake
His daughter was gay as could be, his wife even happier
So he just would not tell her
He would not tell her that the wind whispered her name
He would not tell her she still gave him chills
He would not even tell her her name
