Just One Arm

Staying in an unhappy marriage is the tragic ending no one warns you of.
Until you are living it.
Not all endings are fairy-tale;
When you see a man holding his woman on a beautiful night’s stroll,
Amidst the back-light of the charming lamps,
Guiding walkers to a seemingly happy journey ahead,
You miss the part where she is crying.
Crying for attention.
Crying for a good man.
Crying for her sad future.
Crying for fear of her failed marriage.
And all he can muster is an arm wrapped ‘round her side.
Just one arm.
