Micro Studio Living
As if in preparation for my new micro (and by micro, I mean 217 square feet) studio, I have been downsizing heavily this last month, not even anticipating such a small studio to be found whilst on my quest to search for a new home. Boy was packing super easy and efficient! Yes, I did recruit a friend to help me move my belongings from my car to my new pad, but even without him, my move would have taken an hour tops. It is quite liberating to finally be settled here, not only because it is my own space but mostly because it is so tiny — it is seemingly JUST for me! Every space has a purpose, and it will allow what is most important in my life to surround me.
As I gaze around my new place of work for both writing and painting — which is also my new humble abode in which I spend my nights — I am astonished at how much space I still have, even after my queen bed was placed in the middle of the living/bedding area of my studio. I feel so peaceful here, in my quaint little studio and wonder how people can survive in such a large and spacious home when occupying it alone. Even those with mansions and a family, I think of all the space that goes unused or seldom used, and it makes me cringe. Now, that is not to say all mansions have rooms without a daily purpose, but the greater population of home owners in the U.S. use less than half of their home space and only 40 percent of their items purchased within the last…
