“What makes lovemaking and reading resemble each other most is that within both of them times and spaces open, different from measurable time and space.”
― Italo Calvino

Time is just a word. Time is just man-made. Time is just a concept construed by individuals. Time is not even universal, as time literally differs (this is known as time dilation) from Earth and — can you guess where I’m going with this? — space. Time is just a perception and even varies from individual to individual, as some see the duration of time slower than others, based on in what they’re engaged or not engaged.

They (by they, I mean my dad — ha!) say that sense of time is the first thing to be pardoned when you become crazy… so as a kid, I’d constantly check the time and compare it with the time I thought it may be, lest I be losing my mind, but now looking back, my obsessively checking the time may have contributed to my partial craziness. Who really knows? I suppose time was the biggest teller of all, slowly unveiling the crazy thoughts that overcame me, the more I focused on time. What an ironic thing this whole time concept truly is, if not downright wrong.

Maybe that’s part of why I read so much as a kid: not only was I trying to escape reality through the words and painted…
