Short Hair and All

They asked her why she had short hair.
Most predicted the typical answer of:
I desired a change.
But her answer was so much deeper than that;
She wanted to remain her self —
Her true, authentic self.

She craved to reveal her story,
Showing the world her bold face,
Her artistic edge,
Her new-found happiness radiating from the whites of her eyes.
She demanded to be seen,
Lusting after her suppressed spark that society proudly tried to hide.
She wanted to be her,
And so she was.
Short hair and all.

They asked her why she had short hair.
She replied:
So I can expose my raw beauty,
Revealing my innate uniqueness,
My lioness personality,
My desire to be fierce,
My exuberant happiness.
I want to remain my self.
My true, authentic self.
