What I Grabbed Amidst the Fire Alarms
I was forced to act upon the famous hypothetical question of: what would you grab during a fire?
I was gazing up toward the sky, in awe of its wondrous beauties, when a noise from a distant world — at first faint, but growing stronger — sent chills running amok throughout my body, specifically up and down my spine. I looked out beyond me, trying to peer into the depths of space, when my body finally jolted me awake to reality. I was no longer dreaming, but the noise was incessant, urging me to leave my apartment immediately… There is a fucking fire somewhere in the building. If not a fire, a fucking emergency. Leave now!! Those thoughts consumed my mind whilst the fire alarms were growing louder and louder by the second (it seemed like every second, but perhaps it was my mere imagination, for my adrenaline had kicked in already).
I looked outside my window, trying to see if I could make sense of what was going on and if this was real or not. It looked calm out there, on the other side of this screaming alarm, with no soul in sight. So I paused a second and wondered if perhaps the alarm was emanating from my apartment alone.
