You Scare Me
Yet I keep running back to you
“I’ve been absolutely terrified every moment of my life — and I’ve
never let it keep me from doing a single thing I wanted to do.”
― Georgia O’Keeffe
I look deeply into your eyes
and wonder why I still am so fond of you.
You did me dirty,
and you seem to sabotage my life when all is going well,
yet I can’t seem to run completely away from you.
I see you for who you really are,
wondering if anyone else sees you the way I do.
I know it’s not realistic to expect so much from you,
even when it seems I’m the only one who cares.
I love you the way the moon loves the sun —
as the sun itself is the only light source
in which you draw from.
Didn’t you know you were dark as fuck?
I contemplate how light you really are,
as you have more dark days than light.
But then I look your body up and down,
only to realize how precious you really are.
I wander from person to person,
trying to seek friendship from those that matter…
