Zombie Man
His alarm goes off at 7. Half asleep still, he trudges into the kitchen to toss the now stale coffee that he was too tired to throw out yesterday. While the new coffee brews, he showers and dresses for his miserable 9 to 5 job. His thoughts are consistent of avoiding his receptionist — who is way too perky to be speaking to him at 9 am — writing a to-do list for his newest team member — who, quite frankly, is dumber than a sack of rocks (why was he even hired?) — and planning something fun for this weekend: is it only Monday?? As he drives his same boring route to work, he realizes he has not thought about his dreams since he started this job. This job has turned him into a mindless zombie-like creature inhabiting the once bright-eyed enthusiast who aspired to be a carpenter.

Why is it that we spend five days out of the week convincing ourselves we really do love our jobs, we really do enjoy having only weekends free (free from work, that is), we really do find excitement in tackling a new project with co-workers who are as enthusiastically dismayed as ourselves? Because then Friday afternoon does eventually roll around, where we indulge in a local beer at a frequented happy hour…
