“Hope is the ability to hear the music of the future; faith is the courage to dance to it today.”
— Peter Kuzmic

A poem

I guess I miss the future.

I miss the way you’ll touch me
and hold me forever.

I miss the concerts we’ll attend,
all in cities we don’t call home.
But it feels like home.

I miss your tight embrace when I’ve had a long day
and need nothing else but you.

I miss all our secrets we’ll hold —
having our plethora of inside jokes to boot.

I miss the sand that’s going to squish itself…

“It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey
that matters, in the end.”
― Ursula K. Le Guin

Hoards of people. Vibrant new colors. Laughter filling the air. Animals roaming for miles. Playful monkeys in the streets. Vendors selling food, galore. Aromas swimming into my senses. Warmth overcoming my body. Heats more intense than that of the desert. Mountains taller than I’d ever seen. Trees swaying proudly. Adorned jewelry, worn by beautiful women. Henna, baby! Majestic temples on every corner. Delicious food. Obedient gurus. Obscene trash polluting Mother Nature. Cafes that host pure…

“The future is meant for those who are willing to let go of the worst parts of the past. When you cannot take two steps without turning around to inspect your footsteps, you are getting nowhere fast.”
Corey Taylor

(1) vainglory or pride

: inordinate pride in oneself or one’s achievements; excessive vanity

You care so much for yourself, disregarding all other beings as less than to your superior self, who is worth more time than anyone else’s. You can’t help but to be selfish, for you love (if you can even appropriately use the word love here) yourself and only yourself.

But…

“The odds of going to the store for a loaf of bread and coming out
with only a loaf of bread are three billion to one.”
― Erma Bombeck

minimalism: removing anything that distracts us from living with intentionality and freedom

You go to the store without a list and end up buying twenty things you don’t need. Maybe you’ll still end up using those items, but do they provide you with value? Sustenance? Joy? Entertainment? Or were they impulse buys that you’ll store away for that rainy day that never comes?

Or maybe you go to the Farmer’s Market…

“She was one who has an interest in hunting and it may be said that this heart of mine has made it its business to catch the arrows and bleed.”
― Mukta Singh-Zocchi

A friend recently told me something that has stuck with me since, as I mull it over more and more and relate it to my life’s path:

Whoever loves the least has the most power.

Whoever loves the least has the most power.

You catch feelings, and you fall for someone. Harder than you expected, and absolutely harder than he had wanted. And so he holds the…

“If you want to have peace on this planet full of stress and turmoil, go to a tree, and hug it. Go to them as if, you are visiting a temple or church. Walk barefoot and touch them in reverence with both your hands.”
― Banani Ray

I’ve stopped drinking, and so I’ve turned to hiking — every fucking day. And it’s so utterly refreshing, as if I’m breathing my first breaths of fresh air again. It’s like I’m living in this new world that’s not my own because I’m a brand new me, feeling revived and unrestrained from the…

A poem

i close my eyes and wish myself elsewhere

until i see only calmness twirling around me

as i look yonder

my life is full of peaceful bliss

but the world around me is destroying everything in sight as it whips around

unleashing its full potential of harmful powers

i don’t see the storm

because i’m in the eye of it

i whisper soothing mantras to myself

as i see the winds dancing with death hundreds of miles away

before my life was in the midst of this eye

i myself was dancing alongside the storm that carried only disturbances

i…

“It’s said that the shuffling of the cards is the earth, and the pattering of the cards is the rain, and the beating of the cards is the wind, and the pointing of the cards is the fire. That’s of the four suits. But the Greater Trumps, it’s said, are the meaning of all process and the measure of the everlasting dance.”
Charles Williams

My sister believes tarot readings are works of the devil. And so they are, to her.

My mom thinks tarot cards are witch-filled, and so they are, to her.

My dad thinks it’s somewhat a…

“Close the door. Write with no one looking over your shoulder. Don’t try to figure out what other people want to hear from you; figure out what you have to say. It’s the one and only thing you have to offer.”
Barbara Kingsolver

I’m often asked if I ever grow weary of writing and how I can possibly write every day, as if religiously.

If I’m not blogging, I’m journaling or working on my poetry book or taking new stabs at my novel regarding energy and the chakras.

Words roam my mind constantly, so I hardly understand the queries…

“What happens when people open their hearts?”
“They get better.”
Haruki Murakami

A poem

i surrendered to you

and you let go of me like a balloon held loosely in the grips of a child

i found the trust that’s been suppressed in me for far too long a time

but you squandered it like an ant under your cowboy boot

as if you didn’t even see me at all

because you’re much bigger than i

and also much more of a coward

i told you from the start i’m not perfect

but i’m me

who the fuck are you

you…
